Introducing the cat

Name: Perry
Nickname: Kitteh (pronounced Kit-ah)
Age: Unknown, appoximately 2 years.
Birthplace: Eastern Iowa, Near Williamsburg
Favorite Foods: Ice Cream, Chicken (Still in Package)

Background:
I found Kitteh in a field on the side of a gravel road about 6 miles outside of Williamsburg, Iowa. At the time he was the slowest of a liter of kittens that were most likely dropped off on the side of the highway. He is the only orange cat and obviously the slowest since I was able to catch him and not his siblings, all of whom darted under a barbed wire fence before I could round them up.

I should have known that he came from a smart liter but at the time he was just a cuddly ball of fur lodged deep in the steering column of the Red GMC Sierra pickup. Once dislodged he quickly taught himself how to use the liter box and how to hide behind things. For about 12 hours I had a mild panic attack while I considered the odds that I'd saved this kitten, only to lose it in the heating vents withing the first day. In retrospect, it seems that I should have known what a little troll kitteh would become, but I was still wearing the adorable kitten goggles that last shortly after you rescue your first feline friend.

As Kitteh got older he started to exhibit some similar traits to man's best friend. He slept at the end of my bed, followed me to the bathroom, drank from the toilet, and chased his own tail. This might seem unusual for a cat, but Perry was treated like a dog from day one. I'd never owned a cat so I just taught him as I did with my dogs.

Unsurprisingly this method of training seriously backfired when Kitteh took the skills I'd taught him and started using them for naughty kitty tricks. One example is when I woke up to find that he had opened the refrigerator door, pulled out a package of raw chicken breasts, and helped himself to a tasty treat. Another unfortunate "skill" of Kitteh's is the ability to open Tupperware containers. This makes it extemely hard to keep food from him. At one point I considered getting a bulk sized package of bear safe containers.

Since then, Kitteh continually trolls, pranks, and messes with my life, but alas, he is my bud and he's hilarious.

This blog will be about things in life that we do, find interesting, or think about. Enjoy, and welcome!
